TweetGlide: Twitter For business.

Twitter has been the most misunderstood and perhaps most Maligned of the new social media portals in the last few months. Most people just don’t understand the little Tweets nor their attraction for the masses. however as the social media arena expands in the next few years this little gem will be leading the pack.

Now I have been a fan of Twitter for a long time and use it extensively in my marketing efforts, I make almost 30% of my revenue from social media marketing and twitter provides a large portion of the traffic I drive to everything from affiliate offers to my own squeeze pages and sales offers. So any change to the twitter-scape gets my attention because it has the power to either make me more money or to casue my sales to drop.

Now yesterday I received an email from Mike Filsame, who is aurguably one of the most important and innovative marketers online today. He told me of the latest application that he had just launched that was designed to make twitter a more expansive marketing tool for the online business world.

So yesterday Tweetglide was launched. Unlike previous product launches that Mike’s company has made in the past this was done with a quiet fanfare and whats more the product is FREE.

my first impression of the software is its remarkable similarity to a well established product already available, Tweetdeck is another product to help people with an all in one application for social media. It uses a similar look and functions very like Tweetglide .

However once you get past the similar look and feel these two products are worlds apart in form and function. Tweetdeck is strictly designed to allow twitter users to have one interface to access all aspects of their twitter experience. Tweetglide however was primarily designed to allow Marketers to maximise their efforts on Twitter by allowing a few exceptional differences.

The first fundamental difference is the ability of the tweetglide operator to make longer tweets than currently allowed in the normal Twitter sphere. Usually 140 characters is your lot, but in tweetglide you can make a tweet as long as 1000 characters, which is almost half a blogpost in length. It does this by storing the additional characters you type above the allowed limit to your very own Tweetglide blog accessed via your control panel However below your tweet appears a link to read more for those curious enough to go check out your blog from twitter. The link is also tracked so you can know whats driving traffic to your offers and blog posts etc.

The second difference is the marketing element within the program itself. You as an owner can make marketing pitches directly to other tweetglide users and make these posts stand out with colour and graphics. the impact of this is self evident and as the product expands and more people use it the wider your audience of potential customers will become.

I am just getting to grips with this product but already I see great potential in it and I am happy to add this into my social media toolbox. You should take a look too and at least try it to find out its power. What have you got to lose, its FREE afterall so its a no-brainer really.
