LSI, so whats that? | What is Latent Semantic Indexing

Hello, Kevin here from truetrafficsecrets.com” with a little known yet vital component of the SEO mantra that is essential to your marketing success.

LSI (Latent semantic Indexing) is a rather fancy name for related keywords. Now without getting into a long debate on keyword research and the Google algorithm LSI has become important plainly because it now forms part of the quality score for a website. That in itself means we have to pay attention where our SEO efforts are concerned if we want to be ranked highly by our search engines and get lots of free traffic.

So, LSI is a term used to describe words or phrases we would use in conjunction with our main keyword(s) in the natural flow of our conversation style that we use on our web pages. So now the Google analytical machine not only looks for our keyword on or page but also analyses the entire page seeking related words that would be naturally present in the normal flow of words on a page relevant to the entire subject matter of the page.

As an example of this lets say we are involved in the gardening industry selling a variety of garden implements and tools from our on line store. Our main keyword we optimise our webpage for would be Gardening, however amongst our text on that page either in articles or in the main text itself would be other words that relate or are themed with gardening such as flowers or spade or landscaping. These other words all “relate” either directly or indirectly with gardening and would appear naturally in a discussion on that subject. Or may appear as text links to other pages that are discussing that particular subject. This makes the subject of the page and the website relevant for the main keyword when this is taken in context.

Now if these words are not on our pages or in our site as a whole in a certain way or in certain numbers for the page then Google now has the capability of determining that the content of that page lacks relevance for the keyword optimised for and the page would be ignored in the search chain. Which in some respects is great for us because unless our competition is as astute as we are they are effectively eliminating themselves by ignoring this aspect of SEO. This of course makes it easier for us to get naturally ranked higher than our competition for the same keyword.

So in terms of our keyword, it is no longer possible to sprinkle our keyword liberally through our website and rank highly for that word alone. We now have to be aware that our relationship with words as a whole is now being measured and assessed in forming our quality score. The point of all this LSI and keyword analysis is really irrelevent if you are creating quality content on your website and using the natural processess to deliver that content.

The old material world analogies are as true today in the online world as they were in the concrete factories of yesteryear, if you produce quality your reputation will always be your bond. If your product is not quality you will like your product fail and be ridiculed in the process. So in whatever your niche happens to be produce quality materials, articles and blog posts and your readership will grow and expand naturally. In so doing Google and its pesky Quality score are just measures by which we judge ourselves.

Have agreat weekend and see you all again real soon with more great tips and information for making your web page rank higher.
