Video Strategies 2

Hi Kevin here again with part 2 of the video startegies series

Every marketer should use youtube and other related video
sites as part of their marketing strategies, but and there is always a but, use
this service with extreme care.

YouTube is the absolute king of online video hosting, its
free so why would that be a bad thing. However the problem with video on
YouTube is that there are tons of distractions that can draw your prospect away
from your video once they arrive at the YouTube site.

This can be detrimental to your sales volumes if they don’t
return to buy your product once the video ends.

Another aspect of this is the personal video you post on
YouTube may actually do a great harm to the serious marketing style you portray
in your business video. You see on YT people tend to watch your video and then
because YT make it easy, they then go and check out other videos you may have
done and posted. The reason this is bad is because they may not be ready to do
business with you if say, you have posted a video of you and your buddies out
on the beer getting falling down drunk or a video from your youth turns up with
you expressing your (youthful) opinion on a potentially damaging subject which may
not necessarily go down too well with all your potential customers. So posting
all your videos to the one site even when it’s free is not in my opinion a wise
decision in the longer term.

Now as I said YouTube is a free hosting site for your video.
But, there are times when you want absolute control over what happens to a
prospect that lands on your sales page.

Sending them from your sales page to view a video on YouTube
takes that prospect from your control and once they land on YouTube they may
not return to your sales page and so you lose that sale. There are little
tricks you can do with video that can help to refocus your customer as the
video ends which I will cover in another post in a few days.

This is one aspect of video marketing that a lot of people
get wrong. There are a lot of low cost applications out there that will allow
you to host your video directly on your own website which gives you ultimate
control over your prospects. Perhaps the most overlooked of these options is
within WordPress and if you host a blog what better way to control your
audience than to post your full video directly to your blog.

So by all means upload video to youtube and use the free
service as a marketing tool but always host any sales video on your own site to
prevent “distraction overload” that can occur when you relinquish control to an
outside influence such as youtube.

Your marketing via any YouTube video could show a small
snippet from your on site video to wet the appetite of those who are interested
with a visible link or web-address posted on the video for them to investigate
further. DON’T SELL in the video but persuade those watching to find out more.
Then let your sales letter do its thing and get you the sale.

Video is powerful and can be the single most influential
marketing tool right now. But use it wisely and selectively to control your
prospects and to ensure that you make every sale count.

Have a good one and watch for more on this subject over this
coming week.
