Private Label Rights: How To Get Rich Reward from Recycled PLR Content

PLR or Private Label Rights has been used as a business model on line now for some time.  Some people love it and have created whole companies on this model while others have been stung so  many times by unscrupulous marketers that the mear thought of PLR has them running for the hills.

Using PLR correctly can make a huge difference to your level of success. Now the wrong way to use PLR is to simply post a PLR article to a site and wait for the hordes of hungry visitors to your website. It is not going to happen like that, especially in 2009.

Whats so rewarding about PLR is that almost all the hard work has already been done for you.  The research has been done, the content generated and the tone of the article has been set.

How many times have you spent hours searching for information on a subject in order to put together a simple 400-500 word article,  or a new blog post – or even a page on your website?

I’ve spent hours on research and then taken another 30 – 40 minutes to put that together in a blog post, spell checked and tagged etc.  Using PLR articles can be a rich seam of raw detail that takes almost no time to convert for your own needs. This will save you a ton of time  and eye strain  because your research is already complete.  All that you have to do is skim the article to make sure it reads correctly, change a few minor details and then post to your blog.  Article posting takes a little more work but generally brings richer rewards in more exposure.

With the ever expanding sophistication of the search engines, it is wise to consider your PLR article content as quality but the wording may need to be changed to prevent duplication. Plus who wants to have multiple writing styles visible on line. I know I don’t, so what I tend to do is re-draft the articles into my own style and use the content as a form of  template.

With a blog post you can simply re-write the content in your style and remove the resource box, which is something you can do with PLR articles that you cannot do with some content that is available  these days from article skimming software.

When you post to an article site using PLR content you need to be a little more careful especially if you are presenting the article as your own work.   For example the headline that the original author wrote will need to be changed in your article, as will the general text to reflect your own unique style and of course the resource box that will accompany the article when you upload to the article site.

Now surprisingly some people will simply re-draft a few words and the article title and then post that. Which is wrong on so many levels: this type of article is duplicate content and gets flagged right away by the content bots at the article directory, Ezine articles is especially hot on this and you will not get published that way. Duplicate content is basically anything where the content is the same for over 50% of your article compared with your original PLR copy.

Now what I do with PLR content is basically use the research element ONLY, and I rewrite the entire article to suit my own style. The content is then fresh, written from a different perspective and with a different flavour than the original, and often I write from a different angle than the original which offers another opinion on what maybe an old subject.  However being old does not mean being obsolete in all cases.  Yes things change but some subjects are timeless and new things come and go. Last years Social media site maybe lower down the message board but another will take its place, all you need to do is use the name of the new site in place of the old and change the minor details and you are right up to date and “in the groove” with the current Hot spots around the net.

Another great resource in the PLR world is an old PDF or eBook you may have paid for some time ago. PLR ebooks are an untapped goldmine of relevent new meat for the table in terms of the content. You can create a whole boat load of articles and blog posts from one 25 page ebook, for almost no effort on your part. Whats great about this is  that it doesn’t matter how old the ebook is either.  Generally speaking the niche is unimportant either, because Weight Loss is weight loss, beauty tips remain relativelly static and the methods for traffic generation only change gradually and then only in very subtle ways.

So the basic and sound principles of  some niche’s will remain almost unchanged. For example a good 30 page Parenting guide will have enough details to turn out around 15 or 20 articles on different aspects of parenting and if posted to say 25 different article sites can have your message  exposed over 600 times.  Now couple that exposure with your lazer targetted resource box pointing to your money site and you are all set.

So  PLR – even old PLR – can save you a ton of time, generate loads of content ideas and get you more exposure than you can possibly handle, provided you do it right. Which all leads to more money in your pocket and less time spent on the computer.

Share your thoughts, horror stories or surprises from your PLR. Was it a good investment, and how did it generate you money?

  1. Thanks for a thorough look at this topic. I am wondering how “getting rich” is defined? Certainly, not get rich quick without any effort!

I’ve gotten some PLR subscriptions, individual articles, videos. Some are fugly. Some appear to be written by an 8 year old Venusian, the English was so poor.

As my writing skills improve, I WILL dig up some of those old scripts and see what I can do.

  2. Val,

you would be surprised by the amount of poor English I see online every day. If I was you I would read each piece of PLR content you have and one by one re-write those in your personal style. Then stack these to Auto post periodically
